This song samples Dave Brubeck's "Take Five", and while I have attempted to get permission from his estate lawyer, I have heard nothing back in response. Let it be known that while this statement may not have any legally bearing, and the copyright owners have every legal right to take this song down, it is both me and Elias' most sincere wishes that Paul Desmond's composition and Dave Brubeck's band and performance are exposed in a different and evolutionary light.
We have no intention of selling this song, and only wish to expose people to sounds they may be familar with but not recognize fully.
We chose this sample because we believe that jazz is one of the greatest forms of art and expression, and thus, inspiration. Yes, we could've reimagined the song and made something different, but we intently decided to use this sample because the world as a whole has taken Jazz out of the spotlight. We wish to reinvigorate the art form and inspire others to listen back and make something unique from it.
So thank you, Dave Brubeck & Paul Desmond. Though you are no longer with us, your works continue to resonate through the ears and eyes of future generations.
